BIKE NIGHT SPONSORS SECURED
We started Monday morning out with 25 bike sponsors needed for Friday night. Feeling as though we may not make our goal, in true fashion our supporters came through and in the early Tuesday morning hours we secured the final sponsors.
We have 35 sponsors to thank for the 10th annual Great Bike Giveaway Sponsored by State Bank of Fairmont and The Best Western of Fairmont. We will share the list of those great sponsors later. New for 2025, the Raceway has teamed up with Minuteman press to include a postcard with each bike that has the sponsors address and a stamp. We ask that your child write a thank you note, or you help your child write a thank you note to a bike sponsor.
We felt the thoughtfulness of a personalized postcard from the kiddos would give that unique sign of appreciation, said Leah Gerhardt, the co manager of the Fairmont Raceway. She's goes onto say, after receiving a personalized post card from Jim Chisholm at the end of the 2024 season for hosting USMTS, we felt that warm feeling of appreciation. We hope the guardians will help in getting the postcards sent to the sponsors so that the 11th annual will be just as big of a success.
The Great bike giveaway is slated for Friday June 6th at the intermission of the show. Your kiddos need to be signed up well before 8 PM that way we have time to draw names and create our winners list. We found success in the way we handed out our backpacks last August and we will try and do the same with the bikes. We will form a girls line and a boys line under the grandstands. Boys to the north, girls to the south and you will exit from under the grandstands going east, where you can grab some photos and have your child fill out their postcard if you choose.
Bikes will be handed out randomly, to make sure that each bike is correctly assigned. Our age brackets are merely a suggestion, guardians use your best judgement for age categories and bike sizes. We can't swap bikes after winners have been selected for a size that better fits your child. We ask that guardians help us to keep this orderly. It can be hectic at times as the children get very excited to receive their new bike.
After all of that you would think it is only bikes to be given away Friday June 6th. But in fact all 6 classes will be racing with us. The grandstands will open at 5:30 PM. Pits will open at 5:30 PM. Hot laps to start at 7:15, opening ceremonies to follow. Bike giveaway will take place at intermission and features to follow.
Following the modified feature a 10 lap Best of the Best western will compete for $1,000 to win. Cars from each class will be on the track for 10 laps. Jason Subbert with the Fairmont Best Western has calculated lap times and devised what should be a very entertaining Feature you won't want to miss. More details to come.
